Willow Cottage was built over 300 years ago and has been many things in it's long history. From a pub were the sailors would drink after landing their catch. (Alas the sea has long gone) Now a bed and breakfast with a yard and stables with 10 horses on livery.

Lancashire
The three faces of Lancashire - seaside, wild country and industry. Are all rolled into one on lancashire's coast and it's hinterland. Millions of holidaymakers continue to seek the sun, sand and seaside amusement parks at Blackpool, Morecambe and Southport, while inland the Forest of Bowland provides an untamed wilderness on the doorstep of industrialized Blackburn, Preston, and down the coast is Liverpool and the river Mersey

Preston
Busy industrial town, grew from inland port to cotton centre after Preston-born Richard Arkwright (1732-92) invented the spinning frame. The Harris Museum and art gallery has collections ranging from Bronze Age burial urns and Viking coins to 20th-century British paintings.

 

Southport
Elegant resort with long beach and sand dunes has a Victorian feel. Amusement park, zoo, boating lake and Royal Birkdale championship golf course. Southport Railway Centre has a collection of railway engines and vintage road vehicles.

 

Lancaster
Roman fort occupied hill where stands. Norman keep within medieval gateway, walls and towers. City Museum in the Georgian Old Hall has Roman artifacts, Judges' Lodgings has Museum of Childhood, Regency rooms and history of Gillow cadinet-making firm. Footpath from maritime museum in 18th-century Custom House leads to aqueduct carrying Lancashire Canal above River Lune, built 1797. Superb view from Ashton Memorial (1909), dubbed 'Taj Mahal of the North'.

 

Blackpool
Summer sun and autumn illuminations light up Golden Mile, Pleasure Beach amusement park, three piers, unique trams, Zoo Park and famous 518ft Tower along resort's 7 mile promenade.

Chorley
An elegant 17-century facade fronts Elizabethan Astley Hall maintained as family home of 300 years ago. Ornate Plaster ceilings, Tudor caring, tapestries and pictures. Nature trail leads through magnificent grounds with lake, woodland and River Chor.
